Paying extra contributions

If you are an Active member of the DB Section you can pay extra contributions to increase your retirement benefits. These are called Additional Voluntary Contributions or AVCs. They go into an Account that is set up for you in the AVC Plan, which is separate from the DB Section. You can join the AVC Plan at any time before you reach age 65.

If you are paying your contributions to the Metal Box Pension Scheme via Salary Exchange, your AVCs' will be paid in the same way, provided you continue to meet the eligibility requirement explained in the Salary Exchange booklet.
